Prospect Grange remembers Lillian Walters

Lillian (Bernier) Walters, 90, formerly of Prospect, Conn., passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of J. Clayton Walters Sr.

Mrs. Walters was born on Jan. 3, 1921, in Prospect, a daughter of the late Ernest J. Bernier Sr. and Lillian Mae (Frank) Bernier. Lillian was a member of St. Anthony's Church. Lillian and Clayton were the first couple married in a special Mass July 3, 1939. She was a member of the Prospect Historical Society and Prospect Grange. She was a Cub Scout den mother, 4-H leader and a gifted artist.

She is survived by her two sons, James Walters and his wife, Regina, and George Walters and his wife, Linda; a sister, Beverly Woods and her husband, Francis; and a sister-in-law, Helen Bernier.

The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony's Church for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
