CT State Grange remembers Girard Lemieux |
|
MAY 2009 -- Girard “Jerry” Frederick Lemieux, 83, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Beecher) Lemieux for 53 years. Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Canada; the son of the late Gagetan and Rose (Dumas) Lemieux.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the National Guard. He was an active member of the Winchester Grange No. 74, Mountain County Pomona #4, and longtime trustee of Camp Berger (CT State Grange).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph Jerry Lemieux of N.Y., Craig Leifert of Harwinton, Tyler Lemieux of Maine, Scot Lemieux of R.I., Richard Lemieux of Winchester, JoAnn Phillips of Texas and Wendy Lemieux of Barkhamsted; and two sisters, Marguerite Boratko of Barkhamsted and Germaine Lemieux of Winchester. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Lemieux.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 14, at Winchester Grange, Winchester Center, at 2 p.m. There will be no calling hours. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St., Winsted, has care of the arrangements.
